Grants & Scholarships
Through scholarships and grants, the GIS Foundation makes it possible for students to take advantage of experiences that build confidence, connections, and career readiness. This support helps students participate in conferences, leadership programs, and other opportunities that foster personal and professional growth.

Professional Attire Scholarship
The GIS Foundation supports students by helping remove financial barriers to professional attire.

Provides a $150 gift card for eligible students to purchase professional clothing.

Available for students attending conferences, career fairs, interviews, internships, or jobs.

Designed to ensure members are prepared to interact with industry professionals.
Application closes January 30th, 2026 and an application is required.
​Professional Attire Scholarship award letters and gift cards will be sent out three days after the application deadline.

At-Large Member Travel Scholarship
The GIS Foundation is committed to ensuring all members have the opportunity to attend key Grand Chapter events. To help with travel costs, GIS offers need-based travel scholarships.

Available for Annual Conference and Regional Conference.

Awarded based on financial need and distributed on a rolling basis.

Each event requires a separate application.
Applications close January 30th, 2026 for the Regional Conference.
​At-Large Member Travel Grants will be disbursed after each conference. Students will receive an email letting them know they’ve been selected for the travel grant, but award letters will only be sent after they’ve attended the conference. Students must attend the conference to receive funds, and no other documentation is required.
Chapter Development Grant
The GIS Foundation provides Chapter Development Grant to help reduce financial obstacles associated with maintaining an active and thriving chapter.
The Chapter Development Grant consists of three key components:

Conference Travel Expenses; Each chapter is eligible to nominate up to two members.

Funding for Programs and Events

Membership Dues
All applications must be submitted by the Chapter Advisor or Chapter Leadership.
​Chapter Development Grant (Conference Travel Expenses) award letters will be sent within 3 days after the application closes, and checks will be mailed within 5–14 business days after recipients are notified.

Exam Fee Reimbursement Grant
The GIS Foundation will provide up to $100 to assist with industry exam fees. This grant is available for up to 25 students each year. You can only be awarded this grant once an academic year.
