About the Council

GammaSAID is a student-led initiative with the potential for long-term talent pool transformation. Open to all students, the Council develops resources and presents programming year-round for the benefit of all 5,000+ members, providing the student voice on matters of diversity and inclusion. The Council offers a D&I framework and promotes best practices encouraging students to build D&I into everyday conversations, intentions, outreach, and events, including how to meaningfully engage other majors and groups on campus.

 

GIS Sustaining Partners have the exclusive opportunity to engage with GammaSAID in an advisory capacity through Chief Diversity Officer representation, creating a unique student-industry continuum and an important opportunity for resource sharing and meaningful action.

Diversity Partners are individuals and organizations throughout the industry who are committed to the diversification of the talent pipeline and whose critical support advances the Council's mission.

D&I Officer Framework

Is your chapter considering adding an Officer position focused on diversity and inclusion, or could you use some ideas for outreach to and events with other student organizations? Start here!

  • Foster awareness of D&I within the chapter - see conversation starters here

  • Introduce GIS to and serve as a liaison with other student organizations, majors, and academic departments on campus as well as the Career Center

  • Invite other student groups and majors to chapter events; provide industry context and show how insurance is everywhere with a brief presentation

  • Coordinate with other groups on campus for joint events - see event ideas here

  • Plan D&I-focused chapter events - use the packaged events as ideas

  • Invite industry speakers with diverse backgrounds/functional areas and/or speakers to address the importance of D&I in the industry

  • Share D&I-related opportunities with members (resources, scholarships, conferences, etc.)

  • Participate in and/or help to plan D&I-focused events on campus

  • Engage with the GammaSAID Council

  • Reference the Unique Week guidelines for other ideas

 
 
 
 

I am #Unique because I literally live, breathe, and eat D&I....no really! Being a part of GammaSAID has allowed me to live out my passion by planning collaborating with students all over the country to figure out how to promote and increase D&I in the the insurance industry.
