About the Council

GammaSAID (Solutions for Authenticity, Inclusion, and Diversity) is Gamma Iota Sigma’s student-centered diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy driving long-term insurance industry talent pool growth, diversification, and accessibility. GammaSAID engages both students and industry stakeholders to amplify authenticity, inclusion, and diversity within the insurance industry through the development of resources, forums, and actionable solutions.

GammaSAID Student Council


GammaSAID’s Student Council develops resources and presents programming year-round for the benefit of all 5,000+ members, providing the student voice on matters of diversity and inclusion. The Council offers a D&I framework and promotes best practices encouraging students to build D&I into everyday conversations, intentions, outreach, and events, including how to meaningfully engage other majors and groups on campus. It is comprised of the GammaSAID Alumni Chair, Student Chair, and Vice Chair.




GammaSAID Industry Council


GammaSAID’s Industry Council is comprised of DEI champions and executives within the insurance industry who provide strategic guidance to Gamma Iota Sigma and GammaSAID initiatives.




Grand Chapter D&I Programming


The Grand Chapter delivers innovative programs, events, and collaborative forums for DEI discussions and resource sharing among students and industry.




HBCU Engagement Initiative


GIS is committed to expanding and diversifying the talent pipeline for the insurance industry and showcasing its career opportunities and resources to students of all majors and backgrounds. Gamma Iota Sigma's ongoing collaboration with students, faculty, and career services professionals from HBCUs allows GIS to further its commitment to an inclusive membership strategy and guide the insurance industry's diversity recruiting practices.

Gamma is seeking current members of Gamma Iota Sigma to serve in a leadership position on the GammaSAID Council. GammaSAID is a student-focused strategy driving impact in the insurance industry, developing resources, and presenting programs year-round to provide education on matters of diversity and inclusion.

Applications are due by Friday, March 5, 2021

D&I Officer Framework

Is your chapter considering adding an Officer position focused on diversity and inclusion, or could you use some ideas for outreach to and events with other student organizations? Start here!

  • Foster awareness of D&I within the chapter - see conversation starters here

  • Introduce GIS to and serve as a liaison with other student organizations, majors, and academic departments on campus as well as the Career Center

  • Invite other student groups and majors to chapter events; provide industry context and show how insurance is everywhere with a brief presentation

  • Coordinate with other groups on campus for joint events - see event ideas here

  • Plan D&I-focused chapter events - use the packaged events as ideas

  • Invite industry speakers with diverse backgrounds/functional areas and/or speakers to address the importance of D&I in the industry

  • Share D&I-related opportunities with members (resources, scholarships, conferences, etc.)

  • Participate in and/or help to plan D&I-focused events on campus

  • Engage with the GammaSAID Council

  • Reference the Unique Week guidelines for other ideas

GammaSAID Unique Week

GammaSAID’s Annual Unique Week encourages students to participate in a social media campaign and reach out to other majors and student groups on campus in events and activities promoting diversity and inclusion.

This week gives us the opportunity to celebrate the diversity we have at UT Dallas, but also gives us the chance to encourage that diversity within our chapter. Our aim is to connect our members to the insurance industry, while using our resources to promote diversity and inclusion within the program.
