GIS Foundation
Ensuring equitable access for all students regardless of background or means.
The Gamma Iota Sigma Foundation will provide groundbreaking mental health resources, need-based stipends for professional attire and conference travel, support for industry exams and study materials, chapter grants, accessibility resources, and more to ensure equitable access for all students regardless of background or means.
GIS Launched Foundation at Annual Conference
In September 2022, the Gamma Iota Sigma Foundation was created to funnel industry contributions directly back to students, lower barriers to entry to our industry, and ensure ALL students, regardless of means, could be set up for success.
The Foundation will prioritize student support in the following focus areas:
* Mental Health - Providing all students with free counseling and mental health resources
* Professional Development – Supporting students in their pursuit of insurance careers by providing professional headshots, stipends for business attire, travel scholarships to attend industry conferences and events, and funds for exam study materials and fees.
* Chapter Support – Lowering barriers to entry by equipping and empowering current and prospective GIS chapters through grants for new chapter development, general chapter programming and educational experiences, membership dues, and more.
* Accessibility - Increasing accessibility to GIS and the insurance industry, by providing support and resources for disabled students, veterans, and more.
The industry’s support of the Foundation is critical to its maximum impact on the next generation of insurance talent. The GIS Foundation thanks our ten Founding Partners who have pledged their support of $50,000. Industry leaders Amwins, AXA XL, North Carolina Surplus Lines Association, Ohio Mutual Insurance, RSUI, Travelers, Verisk, Westfield Insurance, Westfield Agents Association and WSIA Diversity Foundation have already pledged their support of $50,000 each to this worthy initiative.
